Tunisia sits at the tip of North Africa with Cape Angela as the African continent’s northernmost point. The crystal-clear blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea separate Tunisia from Italy and Malta.
Its rich history is influenced by various civilizations, including the Romans, Arabs, and Europeans. It is home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient city of Carthage, the Amphitheatre of El Jem, the Medina of Tunis, and the Great Mosque of Kairouan. 
The Bardo Museum in Tunis houses an impressive collection of Roman mosaics and other artifacts, showcasing Tunisia's rich artistic heritage. 
Recognized as a major producer and exporter of olive oil, known for its high quality and unique flavor; believe it or not, a significant portion of olive oil sold under Italian or Spanish brands originates from Tunisia.
Despite being an Islamic state, it has a relatively secular atmosphere, with a history of tolerance and diversity. 
The dinar was introduced in 1960, replacing the French franc. The usual exchange rate is TND $1 :USD $0.32. Tunisia is considered a cash-preferring economy, especially for smaller transactions, and it's a good idea to have some cash on hand.

Fun fact: Tunisia served as a filming location for the Star Wars movies, with locations like the desert landscapes of the Sahara Desert and the town of Matmata recognizable to fans. The Sahara Desert was the backdrop for Luke Skywalker's home planet, Tatooine, while the Tunisian village of Tataouine inspired the name.
